Casey D. Brown
Casey D. Brown brings a grounded, client-first approach to criminal defense, family law and civil matters. His years as a probation officer across the Upper Cumberland gave him firsthand knowledge of how courts work and what effective advocacy requires. He listens carefully, communicates clearly and prepares every case with the expectation of going to trial.
Casey D. Brown is a Tennessee attorney who represents individuals and families in criminal defense, domestic and family law, and a range of civil matters. A native of Jackson County, Tennessee, Casey brings a local, grounded perspective to every case, one shaped by years spent working in and around the courts of the Upper Cumberland and surrounding counties. He understands that legal problems rarely come at "good" times, and he focuses on providing steady guidance, clear answers, and a strategy built around the client's goals.
Casey earned his undergraduate degree from Tennessee Tech, where he majored in Political Science. He went on to complete his legal education at the Nashville School of Law. While finishing his studies at Tennessee Tech and continuing through law school, Casey worked as a probation officer in Tennessee's 13th and 15th Judicial Districts, serving courts and communities across Putnam, Cumberland, White, Pickett, Clay, Overton, DeKalb, Jackson, Macon, Smith, Wilson, and Trousdale Counties. That experience gave him an early and invaluable education in how courtrooms operate, how judges evaluate credibility, how prosecutors approach cases, and how effective attorneys prepare, communicate, and advocate.
Through his probation work, Casey built lasting professional relationships with judges, prosecutors, and attorneys, and he developed a strong working knowledge of court expectations, procedures, and practical outcomes. More importantly, he learned how the legal system affects real people and real families, knowledge that continues to shape his client-first approach today.
After being admitted to practice, Casey worked with a firm handling criminal and domestic cases, building experience in high-stakes matters where clients often need immediate action and clear direction. In family-law matters, Casey is committed to helping clients navigate emotionally difficult transitions with professionalism and empathy. He values trust and communication, and he works to guide clients through divorce, custody, parenting plans, and related issues with a plan that prioritizes stability and long-term solutions when possible. In criminal defense, Casey is known for being a tireless advocate who does not back down, he prepares cases with the expectation that they may need to be tried, and he fights for outcomes that protect a client's future.
In 2024, Casey joined Byars Law Office (Byars, Darby & Damas) and appreciates the professionalism, knowledge, and teamwork of the firm's attorneys and staff. He is proud to serve clients throughout the region and to be part of a practice that values preparation, integrity, and results.
Outside the office, Casey is an avid sports fan, enjoys spending time outdoors, and values community involvement and volunteerism, connections that reinforce his commitment to serving people, not just cases.
Casey's approach is straightforward: listen carefully, identify what matters most to the client, and build a plan based on facts, timing, and realistic goals. He believes clients deserve clear expectations, prompt updates, and an attorney who is fully prepared, whether negotiating a resolution or stepping into court.
